  • 2 – 4 years experience working in a project management or analyst role at an international-facing organization
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, History, Economics or related fields
  • Strong interest in social impact, such as issues related to gender equality, countering violent extremism, international relations, sustainability and development
  • Strong writing skills and experience conducting qualitative research
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Prior experience conducting research is a plus


  • Mine large data sets to uncover actionable trends and insights
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Streamline data analysis pipeline
  • Create data visualizations using Periscope, D3 or similar tools



  • 3 - 5 years experience as a data scientist analyzing and visualizing large data sets
  • Master's or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field
  • Proficient in statistical computer languages including R, Python and SQL
  • Experience applying advanced statistical techniques and concepts including GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms
  • Interest in International Relations, development and/or national security

Location: Remote

Contract: Part-time


  • Conduct qualitative analysis of social media datasets to identify key disinformation narratives, trends and networks
  • Coordinate with data science team to refine inputs and analyze results of social media monitoring algorithms
  • Write research summaries and reports
  • Deliver oral briefings conveying key findings to project stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience researching online disinformation in Eastern Europe
  • Bachelors in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, International Development or related fields
  • Experience in creating research products for policy-makers
  • Fluent in Russian, Ukrainian and English
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL preferred but not required
